Outcome Fully Operational Day One |
The Opportunity: Build It Right from the Start
When a medical office relocates, the stakes are high. Patient care depends on systems being available. Staff depend on reliable connectivity to access records, communicate with providers, and process sensitive health information. A poorly planned move can mean days of disruption, frustrated patients, and compromised care.
This medical office was growing — adding computers, devices, and staff — and their new space needed to be ready for all of it on day one. They brought in AO IT Consulting not to react to problems, but to prevent them entirely.
What the New Space Required
The scope of the project was comprehensive. The medical office needed an infrastructure that could support a larger team, more devices, and the security and compliance requirements that come with handling protected health information:
- Expanded wireless coverage throughout the new, larger space
- Increased internet speeds to support the growing number of devices and users
- Internet redundancy — a second provider to keep the practice online if the primary connection failed
- Load balancing across both connections to maximize performance and efficiency
- A secure guest WiFi network with appropriate restrictions
- A separate company network restricted to verified company-owned assets only
- Security profiles deployed across all computers to enforce compliance and protect patient data
The AO IT Solution
|
🔄 Dual Internet: Speed + Redundancy • Worked with the existing provider to increase connection speeds • Brought in a second internet provider to create full redundancy • Configured load balancing to intelligently distribute traffic across both connections — maximizing speed and ensuring that if one connection fails, the other carries the load without interruption |
|
🔒 Segmented Network Architecture • Company WiFi: restricted to verified, company-owned devices only — no unauthorized devices permitted • Guest WiFi: available for patients and visitors with appropriate content restrictions and network isolation • Security profiles deployed on all computers to enforce organizational policies and protect patient data in compliance with healthcare regulations |
Enterprise-grade wireless access points were deployed throughout the new space to ensure complete coverage with no dead zones — from the front desk and waiting room to exam rooms, staff offices, and back-of-house areas. Every zone of the practice was covered before the first patient walked through the door.
Moving Day
When the medical office moved into their new space, everything was ready. Computers connected. Devices authenticated. Internet live on both connections. Wireless coverage from wall to wall. Guest network up. Staff network secured.
There was no scramble. No troubleshooting. No staff standing around waiting for IT to figure something out. The practice opened its doors and went straight to work.

💡 Planning Is the Product The best IT work is the kind you never notice. When an office moves in and everything works from day one, that’s not luck — it’s the result of careful planning, coordinated execution, and a partner who understands what’s at stake. For a medical office, that means patients get care and staff stay focused on what matters most. |
